Increased Risk Of Engine Fire. At the end of 2020, Land Rover discovered that 3,048 units of the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque MHEV were at risk for a potential engine fire. This problem was caused by a short-circuiting of the 48-volt electrical system, specifically the DCDC converter.

Exactly! Old Land Rover’s were meant for explorers and discovery makers with pure class but they also ran with absolutely anything and had no constant problems. Now Range Rover’s are still meant for the same group of people but they lost all their reliability. JLR should really go back to making good engines, these ones are absolute crap.

If you ignore a small coolant leak long enough, you will run out of coolant, which leads to an overheated engine and other serious, but highly avoidable, problems. An anti-freeze leak can cause the temp sensor to record high engine temperatures in a 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport. Land Rover Discovery Sport engine replacement cost in the UK. In the United Kingdom, the cost of engine replacement for a Land Rover Discovery Sport can range from £4,000 to £8,000. This cost includes the price of the engine itself, as well as the labor charges for the replacement process.

Usually, the Land Rover VVT or VCT sprocket failure comes on as the vehicle gets on in miles, our experience, and industry reports seem to typically indicate at 60,000 to 80,000 miles. Often caused by a stuck or defective camshaft control solenoid, that allows the VVT sprocket to ā€œbounceā€ with low or inconstant oil pressure. A technician will diagnose your Land Rover Discovery Sport heater using the symptoms you report as a starting point. Because your Land Rover Discovery Sport heater is a complex mechanism that uses an electric fan to blow air through a heater core that is heated by the engine coolant, the problem could be electrical, mechanical, coolant-related, or a combination of these systems.

#1 Ā· May 26, 2020 I am hoping for some help! Our Land Rover Discovery Sport - 2016 plate/64k miles broke down last week. I only bought the car (private sale) for 18k in March!!!! It had its most recent 60k service and MOT - no issues recognised. 2 services with LR and one with Quickfit. Ran out of warranty in June 2019.
Hard to believe that you did not notice problems with your engine prior to going in for a service. Also the price difference between a new engine and rebuilt should have rang some bells. A rebuilt engine will use more oil until the rings wear in, sorry they will not pay for the oil.
